Tommy Express donates $13,500 toward drinking water initiatives

Water Mission is a Charleston, South Carolina-based nonprofit organization that designs, builds, and implements safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions for communities in developing countries and disaster areas. According to their reports, over 2.1 billion people in the world (1 in 3) live without consistent or secure access to clean water.

For those of us in the US, it’s hard to imagine traveling hours every day to collect clean safe water for you and your family. And it’s impossible to really understand the devastation caused by water-borne diseases, drought, or prolonged thirst.

This is why Tommy’s Express is so pleased to announce total contributions of over $13,500 to Water Mission in 2018.

Every Tommy’s Express location has a water reclamation system that allows us to use less than 25 gallons of fresh water per car at all sites. When you, our customers, come for a wash we take a portion of these savings and donate water saved. In other words, for every car washed at a Tommy’s Express location we make a donation to Water Mission on behalf of our customers.

One common figure is that it costs around $30 to provide one person with clean water for life when invested in long-term clean water solutions. Thanks to Tommy’s Express customers, this means that over 450 individuals around the world will receive lifelong clean drinking water in addition to over a thousand others aided since we first launched our Water Mission partnership several years ago.

This is an amazing impact, and one we are proud to share with our customers.
